Rekreacja – odnawianie sił fizycznych i psychicznych człowieka za pomocą rozmaitych form aktywności umysłowej lub fizycznej, ale innych niż wynikające z obowiązków codziennego życia.

Jest to więc rozwijanie aktywności nie wynikającej z obowiązków edukacyjnych, zawodowych, rodzinnych, społecznych oraz potrzeb bytowych.

Do rekreacji należą takie formy aktywności jak: sport, hobby, turystyka, nauka dla przyjemności, uprawianie sztuki czy też rozwijanie innych zainteresowań.
